How to stop Yahoo email virus?

My Yahoo email is sending bulk email by itself?

  • I am getting many messages of returned email stating my bulk emails were blocked. I never sent any. The bulk emails are one of those scams saying I am the wife of a bank manager who has access to a large account of a person who died, etc. It offers to share money in return for help. The trouble is, I never sent them. My Yahoo email is strictly web based. I have never used a POP email client or anything like that. Is there someone I can contact at Yahoo to stop this? Do their servers have a virus? I already changed my password. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. .

  • Answer:

You were the "lucky" one to be chosen to be the FROM address on a batch of spam. You are therefore getting all the invalid address email. Spammers do it all the time so they will not get the rejects. There is not much you can do except wait for it to stop. If you are only using the web based email it is highly unlikely you are causing the problem, especially if the rejected addresses are not from your address book. ɦəlʞɹɐq

Other answers

Spammers have strange ways to make it look like the email came from yourself. If your account is secure with a new password then you are ok. Don't worry about it. Just click the spam button every time you get something like this and Yahoo will automatically begin to place things like this in your Spam folder. Within a few days you will be getting fewer of these in the inbox.
