How do I appeal a TOS violation?

I have just been advised of a TOS violation.?

  • I have just rec'd this message: "It has come to our attention that you may have violated the TOS. Please reread the TOS and cease any use of your account that may violate the TOS." Q: What does this mean and what are the details of this alleged violation?

  • Answer:

There is a link to the Terms of Service at the bottom of this page. For legal reasons Yahoo will never tell you the exact violation. They have the right to close any account for any reason. ʎəɿʞɹɐq  ̊ ͜͡● ̊

Being a well versed veteran of the TOS violation it means little. You did something wrong but they will never tell what exactly it is/was. This sometimes leads to repeated violations despite your best of intentions. Just act PC, more cautious in voice then what is reasonably expect a person with freedom of speech, short and to the point with the answers. Its almost better to be trite than honest and accurate, that's the desired environment yahoo demands. Get several TOS violations and you will need to start a new email account.

It's hard to know. It could be some git who reported you for no reason just because they could. It could be that you actually did violate something in the TOS, all depending on which site you got the message from and what yours and others' behavior is like on that service. If you let someone log in to your account, they could've caused problems for you. Or if someone managed to get into your account without your permission and made mischief. Some TOS violations that are common are posting chain letters, mass-inviting, posting spam - which brings me to another idea, if spam has been posted on your account, it could even be an application you added. That happened with my Twitter account. I removed the false tweets, and all apps that might've been at fault, and the problem was solved. Though I still don't know which app was to blame. Beware those "Add Twitter" "Add Facebook" buttons when you comment on other sites, because if you add their wiget to your FB/Twitter/etc. this could happen.

They will not give you the details, but since you asked this in the email category, it may be that you sent something thorugh the email system that was objectionable. You may have "threatened" someone, sent spam, sent copyrighted material, etc. Only you and Yahoo will know for sure.

http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/ymail/abuse/manage-70.html;_ylt=AvbmfbJwMQDqPbJeB1ISW5lFPXpG Check to see if that email is really from Yahoo. There will be a purple ! on your inbox list It sounds rather suspicious to me. Im curious if there were links to click. There s/not have been. Usually they would determine if you did or not and your entire Yahoo account would be terminated, just like that ! The TOS link is on the far bottom of this page, maybe read it again ..and see if something looks like something you did.
