How do I stop someone else from using my email address fraudulently?

Someone is using my email address. How can I stop this?

  • This guy is using my email address and I keep getting these ridiculous emails. It has his name and my email address. What can I do to stop this?

    Change your password. Make sure that it includes as many different forms of character as the site allows you to use. (i.e. if it allows only letters and numbers, use at least one lowercase letter, one capital letter and one number. If you can use special characters - e.g. ^ , ! ? ; : @etcetc, make sure to include one of those as well.) For example: ilovemydog could be 1|_uVm41d0G. It's an easy enough sentence to remember, but most people wouldn't be able to guess the password easily if you used special characters. Another one: chocolate ---> (h0coL8 Be creative, and Google some examples of Leetspeak and Lolcats to give you inspiration.

change the password. once you have a new password, open the account and change the name. make sure that your password is easy for you to remember but unpredictable for others.
