Is Yahoo briefcase the same as my yahoo e-mail?

Has anyone had an explanation from Yahoo as to whether the email about Briefcase closing is a scam?

  • Email said I was a Briefcase user, which I never recall signing up to (though it says I updated it in June 2007), and that I must move my files or lose them. No idea what all that means and Yahoo are terrible at answering questions, so am still in the dark.

    We don't need an explanation. It's NOT a scam. Yahoo! Briefcase is closing as of March 30, 2009. The are NOT terrible at answering questions. All the information has been provided in the links below. If you have files stored there, you need to removed them. There are MANY similar, free file sharing/storage sites available. The emails from yahoo warning that yahoo briefcase is closing march 30 is genuine and only applies to you if you have a briefcase account. any files or documents that you may have stored in briefcase needs to be moved before that date. The closing of briefcase will not affect any other parts of your account or files/emails you have stored elsewhere on your yahoo account. If you have never used yahoo briefcase disregard the email. I'm afraid it's true. I already got an email like that Monday. Y! has announced that it's ending the Briefcase service. It will officially shut down on March 30. You have until then to try to retrieve whatever is stored there before it's all permanently deleted.
