Why do my emails not sending right?

How do I get NetZero and United Online to stop sending me marketing info? I've tried to be nice...?

  • I have not been a NetZero member in over 6 years. In 2005 I started receiving marketing emails from them. Clicking on the link at the bottom of their emails for non-NetZero members to be removed from their list always took me to an error page. After hunting through their web site, I finally found a toll free phone number that didn't require me to pay $1.99 a minute to speak to someone and they stopped sending me the emails. In October of 2006 I started getting these emails again; the link for non-members still didn't work, their was no longer a no fee phone number to call, and I've received three emails from [email protected] telling me they would forward my emails to the right person. I'm still getting emails from them. I've even notified [email protected] about this, and of course haven't gotten a response. Anyone else had similar problems? I'd like to know because this seems to me to be the very working definition of spam.

  • Answer:

"Unsubscribe" is rarely effective. Marketing companies want you on their lists, so even if you ask to be removed, they won't do it. If they are a legitimate marketing company, they will be sending you their emails from the same address every time. You can block that address by clicking the checkbox beside their email in your inbox and then clicking the Spam button. This will put a block on that address so you don't get anymore emails from that address.
