How do I get rid of unwanted e mails wanting to connect on yahoo?
-
These are not from Yahoo Answers and they are not names. It is a series of numbers and letters and I am getting a lot every day. Is there a way to block them? I enjoy the few that I get from people on Yahoo Answers. Thanks in advance for your answer.

I don't know if you can call it a "glitch" or spam or what----but you can thank Yahoo for this SNAFU. Try this: Mouse over your Hi Name (top left), and click on "Profile" to open your Pulse page. On that page click on "settings" (top right). Scroll to "Notifications" and click on "manage email notifications". Then check the "NO boxes on the Invites". Click "Done".

Many users have reported the same problem, it seems to be a new way of spamming, where once you accept the connection, the user posts the link to a pornography site. Be very careful, since such websites have been known to plant all sorts of malware on your harddrive! What you can do is this: 1: Go to "My Activity" at the top of this page, click "Edit My Preferences" -> click "Privacy and Communication". Scroll down and click "don't share my updates", hit submit. 2: On the mail screen click "options", at the top of the list unmark "enable updates", click "save changes" at the upper left. That may not stop all requests immediately, but it will slow them down considerably!

Many of the Y/A folks have posted similar complaints and questions. The only thing I was able to do, because I am also receiving those "emails", was to tell my SPAM folder to recognize these as SPAM and they stopped going into my inbox. Eventually, these emails started to slow down from over 100 per day to only a few dozen. Hopefully they will dwindle down to nothing.

Usually just clicking on SPAM when you receive the message will direct it to your SPAM FOLDER and any subsequent emails from this person will go there...if that doesn't work try below.... If you are using yahoo classic OR all new mail..... Go to "Options" It is above your email Click on "Mail Options"(More options...if in All New Mail) Click on SPAM Enter the address you want to block Click on “Add Block” On occasion the sender changes their name BEFORE @ so block that DOMAIN the following way... If you are receiving several emails from the same domain, but various ID's, the easiest way to stop them is to enter the domain into your "Blocked Addresses". In Yahoo! mail, to block the senders domain (hotmail.com): ◘ Click on "Options, upper right corner of mail page". ◘ Then "Mail Options". ◘ Click on "Spam" from the list on the left. ◘ In the "Add a blocked address" box, enter the domain (only the part of the email address AFTER @, do not include @). Note: I have recently seen where you should have the @ included...try them both. ◘ Click the "Add" button. Now, any email from that domain, no matter what ID is used to send it, will be blocked. FINALLY...do not forget to click on SAVE CHANGES at the top of the page...... NOTE: there is a limit of 500 addresses in the Block Address box. There may come a time where you have to go in to this box and delete some. +++++++++++++++++++++ In addition you can use your FILTERS to send them to the trash or spam folder. .....click on OPTIONS...MAIL OPTIONS...go to the left side and click on FILTERS...once in click on CREATE OR EDIT FILTERS...then click on ADD...place the site in the box and click on ADD FILTERS..NOTE; this was the only way I could get rid of Yahoo!groups.. Also, when trying to add addresses in the BLOCKED ADDRESS box it will not allow just names...usually has to have a ".com" or something similar following the name. Filters allow you to send just the names you see in your inbox prior to opening the message in to the Spam folder.. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The free link below has been gaining acceptance acceptance in reducing spam. http://www.mailwasher.net/
