How do I contact Yahoo directly? I receive approx 40 spam messages everyday despite using the spam button?
-
I asked some friends and they said that all my spam should be going to the bulk file. unfortunately not in my case. it all comes through to my inbox. and every day i have to dump approx 40 messages. After selecting them, I hit the spam button which advises me that i have done a good thing. Only, in my case, I seem to be getting more and more not less and less. its a pain. I thought that Yahoos service was to minimize the amount of spam we receive. Not for me. Can any one advise me how to redirect or minimize the spam coming through to my inbox. i have looked for a contact point for Yahoo on the website and cant find one, if anyone knows how to contact them could they tell me, or alternatively tell me how to stop the spam, cheers! What the hell is it spam anyway? It seems to be a mixture of dodgy emails ad's and potential viruses, is that it, or is there more to it?

Spammers are very devious and persistent. I know of three ways you can use to address this problem. One way, is to go to mail options on the extreme right of your yahoo mail page. Locate Spam Protection. Under Marking Spam + Not Spam, check the box that when you mark message as spam, it will be deleted immediately. Mark the box that their e-mail addresses are added to your blocked addresses list automatically. Moreover, under General Preferences, locate Special Folders. Check the box, that unsolicited mails or messages will be directed to your Bulk Folder. The second way, is to go to My Account and locate the Edit my Marketing Preferences. Make sure those boxes are not checked. These boxes give the telemarketers cart blanc permission to send you ads. I found out that by doing this two, helped me quite a bit. The final sure shot is to go Bulk Folder. Turn on the Spam Guard. And check the box to DELETE all spam immediately upon receipt without you reviewing them at all. This way, your Bulk Folder will stay empty at all times. Like you, I've tried the filters but these don't work too well as the headers have to be specific. By following the above steps, your problem will be solved. You don't need to contact yahoo for help. It's uselesss. I had the same problem before and kept on asking yahoo for help to no avail. I discovered the following solutions on my own after a few weeks of frustrations.

That is the cost of a free service. They either sell your information, or just don't make it hard for spammers to get to you. 40 is not so bad...I would find a new e-mail provider.

Check the options in your e-mail spam service, you probably have the option of email address only and not the message tittle. Put the message tittle and it will low considerably the amount of spam messages received.

I don't follow the logic of the other posters that because something is free it should be substandard (i.e. spam comes along with the free service from Yahoo). In my estimation, one should use the free service to determine the quality of service before buying the product. I avoid companies where one cannot talk directly to someone for help. Another point/example ... when someone volunteers for a job, they are commiting to that job. The point is they are obligating themselves to you! This doesn't give them license to shirk their duties unless they notify you they cannot work. But, the advice to have two email addresses, one for web purchases, etc, and the other just for personal email is about the only thing you can do since Yahoo isn't helping with the matter. BTW, I pay Yahoo $20 per year for disk space for my email, so it is not "free" for me. But it is a good buy. However, I, too, cannot stop the spam even though it presents the same pattern (i.e. message line, message contents). Evidently Yahoo cannot/will not stop this spam so why the hell should I buy anything else from Yahoo?

Posting your e-mail address on webpages leaves you open to software-bots that surf the web looking for @yahoo.com to add you to the evil mass mailing lists. Never ever, ever, ever buy anything from spammers. If you think something is spam tell them it is harrassment, and remind them you will never buy any thing from them. Yahoo is free. You get what you pay for. Finally, and probably a HUGE change for you, change your e-mail address. Start fresh. Unsubscribing from some mailing lists promts them the move your e-mail to another list. Once they have your e-mail address you will never get out of this vicious circle.
