  • Answer:

100% SCAM Yahoo has NO lottery - in fact they have an entire page warning about this exact scam and how to report it http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/yahoomail/abuse/abuse-63.html "If you get an email that looks like it’s from Yahoo! but tells you you’re the winner of a Lottery or other contest from Yahoo! – and it asks you to email personal information to claim a cash prize or reward – click Spam to dispose of it. You can also report this suspicious email by going to our Abuse Form and file a complaint." What sort of information did you send to these criminals? You might want to contact your local police, non emergency number, to find out what you need to do to prevent becoming the victim of identity theft Whatever you do, DO NOT respond to any new emails from these criminals or any other emails from people you do not know. Now that they know you are gullible they will continue to target you with new scams - and if they now have your home address and phone number, you'll be targeted with mail and phone scams along with more email scams. If it gets bad you'll have to change your email and only give you new address to friends and family

Scam!!!!! That message is both a fake and an outright fraud. Don't contact the phishers and give them any of your personal information at all. If that involves money for insurance or fees, don't give them not one cent of it. You'll never see the money again. Remember no major company gets involved in any fake lotteries. The scammers are already using companies' names as a front for their illegal activities. Send that scam message straight into oblivion by deleting it right away. This is one lottery you'll never win because it's "bogus." You'll have to pay some money to play in the lottery. Another thing, the phishers telling you to "keep this lottery information confidential" would indicate to you not to say anything about this to anybody until they have finished scamming you.

Sorry, but Yahoo doesn't HAVE a lottery. So, this is fake and you didn't win any prize money, and there is actually NO free money floating around the U.K., or the U.S. or anyplace else. This is spam. Pure spam. You've already stuck your foot in your mouth by answering them. If you get another email, you need to put them all back in spam, and leave them there. Do NOT contact this bunch again.
