Answer:
I can't comment on that specific agency as I have no knowledge of them but will give you general rules that apply to any modelling agency First of all NO legitimate agency will ever give you a time frame to answer. You don't have deadlines to sign with any agency - if they like your look today they'll like it in 6 months if that's how long it takes for you to commit. Agencies don't sign models on a specific day and don't ever have deadlines. Sometimes they see a girl and she says she can't sign with them until July when the school year ends - and a real agency has no problem with that Second, in the UK it's illegal for any agency to charge models upfront fees - it's a new law that went into effect on 1 October 2010 The info is right there on the Direct.gov site http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Employment/Understandingyourworkstatus/Agencyworkersandemploymentagencies/DG_189589 "If you are asked for money when you first speak to an agency they are breaking the law and you should walk away. Report their actions to the Pay and Work Rights Helpline or fill out the online complaint form." Third, I wouldn't believe anyone who called saying you were one of 8000 who got picked - again a legitimate agency would never say anything of the sort. If they liked your picture, they would invite you into their office so they could see you in person, watch you walk, measure you,and take a few Polaroids. Then you wait to see if you get called back to meet the agency board. Then you wait to see if you get called back again for a test shoot (at NO cost to you) then you wait to see if they are impressed by the shoot and call you back to give you a contract. That's how an agency works. You always visit an agency in person 3-4 times before they tell you if you were chosen to be signed by them or not. But they would never tell you if you were 1 of 10 or one of 100,000 who got signed. That's unprofessional You can have a less attractive friend or family member send in pictures and I would guess they get the same call Fourth, NEVER EVER EVER give your credit card over the phone to anyone you don't know. And NEVER pay upfront fees for any agency - a real agency ONLY makes money after they book you on a job and take their 10-20% commission. Period. Fifth, if they know you are under 18 and still spoke to you instead of asking to speak with your parents, again it's not going to be a legitimate agency. You are not old enough to sign a model release form or a contract and a legitimate agency would never speak to a minor directly. According to Companies House, the government business registry, the only registered company with the name UK Models was based in Notts and was dissolved on 2 November 2010 - they are not in business anymore http://wck2.companieshouse.gov.uk/6d6d9deeee0084bb1ef50caf5274417b/compdetails so is someone falsely using their name?

I don't know about in the uk. But here in the us legit modeling agencies will never ask for money before you've even done anything. Usually when this happens it is a clear sign of a scam.

You were 1 of 8000 that received the same letter. It's a scam because they wouldn't be asking for money before you even meet them. Giving them a credit card number would be financial suicide. Don't do it.

Anytime, and anybody that hurries you into paying them, is a scam. That doesn't mean if they don't hurry you it isn't a scam. The first sentence is true though.

Anytime you have to pay a modeling agency to become their model, you are being scammed. If they call back decline the offer.
