Why is [email protected] repeatedly sending delivery failure messages to my att mail account?
-
My att.net email account is getting repeated delivery failure messages from the yahoo mailer-daemon. I have not sent any mail to the indicated email address ([email protected]). I get this same error message several time a day. Here's an example of the repeated message: Sorry, we were unable to deliver your message to the following address. <[email protected]>: Remote host said: 550 Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable [RCPT_TO] --- Below this line is a copy of the message. Probably, someone is spoofing your email address to send spam emails, and one of the addresses they're sending to is bouncing. Since it's your address in the From field, you're getting the automated bounce notifications.

Someone is spoofing your email address and send to obviously not working email. Email checker below show that [email protected] is not a valid e-mail address http://www.ip-address.org/verify/email-checker.php http://www.ipaddresslocation.org/email_lookup/check-email.php http://www.find-ip-address.org/email-lookup.php Spoofing is not strange and it happen every day. You can nothing do about it. At least that IP address in the email header is not your but from someone who pretend to be you.

Change your password immediately, since it is possible that some OTHER person is sending that email through your account - like a spammer, maybe.

This is often caused by malware on your computer. Read Yahoo Help's article about malware spamming problems http://help.yahoo.com/kb/index?y=PROD_MSNG&page=content&id=SLN2159&actp=lorax&locale=en_US You need to do all of the following and it should stop it 99% of the time 1 - change your email password 2 - run full scans for both viruses and malware. A virus scan alone is not enough. You need to run an antimalware program like Malwarebytes which you can download for free. Then delete all infected files 3 - after running the scans, delete your browsing history and cookies and empty your cache 4 - restart your computer Also tell your contacts that your account has been compromised and not to click on any links in emails being sent by you. If they click on the link in the email, it will infect their computer and all of their contacts will get spammed out of their account
