  • Answer:

Yes, it's a phishing scam, ignore it. Especially DO NOT click the "dispute" link, it will go to a fake site. The item number in question, 2009061001543, does not even exist.

it doesn't look like a scam, you should really make sure you aren't being charged anyhting and if it is a scam, then it was very thought out and detailed!

its not scam, either someone tried to buy something and accidentally put the wrong email address in, or for some reason they used a random email to try to buy something. It could be scam, but i don't think so, cause the only reason someone scams u, is to get ure money. That is just a confirmation email, and they will not make any money out of u responding, so i think it was just an honest mistake. Just ignore it, and it will go away, do not respond or click any links this might be to get ure email!

This IS a scam. I just looked at it in my email too. Trans ID, tracking #, item/product # and amount taken out are exactly the same as what mine shows. Just delete it. 1 other way I know it's a scam......I don't have a Paypal account in my name or this email address lol

I got the exact same email. Its a scam. I checked my paypal account. No reference to it in there. I checked the credit card I use to pay paypal and no reference there either. Plus the email showed up in junk mail and it went to an email that I didn't supply to paypal.

This is definitely a scam. I got the same email and sent it to [email protected] for confirmation and they said it is. You should also forward your emails to them. Don't click on any links within the email it will take you to a counterfit site.

i got the exact same email a few minutes ago. I was so freaked out too because it seemed legit. however, my email had the exact same Transaction ID and Item/Product Number.

I got the very same e-mail this morning. It's a phishing expedition. Go check your e-bay and your paypal accounts without clicking any link in the e-mail just to be safe.

It depends...did u buy the item...or was the email sent to you by accident...if you bought the item and it matches the description of the item bought then it should be okay...but if you did not buy this item stay away from those kind of emails

I would be highly suspicious of this Email. It looks like a phishing attack to me. Are there any clickable links within that Email? If so, they may not lead exactly to what is printed as the link. Links can be spoofed, ie counterfeited. When you would click on that link it would secretly redirect you to an unofficial PayPal site. Read what PayPal has to say about phishing: What is Phishing? Phishing is a form of fraud designed to steal your identity. It works by using false pretenses to get you to disclose sensitive personal information, such as credit and debit card numbers, account passwords, or Social Security numbers. One of the most common phishing scams involves sending a fraudulent email that claims to be from a well-known company. Phishing can also be carried out in person, over the phone, through fraudulent pop-up windows, and websites. DEFINITIONS Phishing (pronounced “fishing”): Fraudulent emails that request or initiate a scam to get sensitive personal information. Spoof Site: Fraudulent sites – usually linked from a phishing email – that look like well-known websites. How phishing through email works: 1. A fraudster will start out sending thousands, even millions, of emails to different mail accounts disguised as messages from a well-known company. The typical phishing email will contain a concocted story designed to lure you into taking an action such as clicking a link or button in the email or calling a phone number. The fraudulent website will also mimic the appearance of a popular website or company. The scam site will ask for personal information, such as your credit card number, Social Security number, or account password. You think you’re giving information to a trusted company when, in fact, you’re supplying it to a criminal.
