  • Dear all, I recieved below email and I want to know is this a Hoax or not? Dear YAHOO User, Because of the sudden rush of people signing up to YAHOO, it has come to our attention that we are vastly running out of resources. So, within a month's time, anyone who does not receive this email with the exact subject heading, will be deleted off our server. Please forward this email so that we know you are still using this account. We want to find out which users are actually using their YAHOO accounts. So if you are using your account, please pass this e-mail to every YAHOO user that you can and IF YOU DO NOT PASS this letter to anyone we will delete your account. From Mr. ALLEN SMITH YAHOO Admin. Dept. Our YAHOO system is getting to crowded!! We need you to forward this to at least 20 people. I know this seems like a large number, but we need to find out who is really using their account. If you do not send t his to at least 10 YAHOO members, we will .....

  • Answer:

Don't worry. It is most definitely spam. If it was from Yahoo, they would address you by your email address and/or first name. I have not received any emails of the type from Yahoo, so just delete it. It's called "chain-mail" or "chain-letters", and people who create them think they're funny. I had a hotmail account once and received an email just like that, and I deleted it. Nothing happened. Besides, messages straight from Yahoo appear in your inbox with the subject bold or colored to let you know it is a legit message from the server. If it looks like spam, it probably is. Don't forward it to anyone, unless you want your friends to be really pissed off at you. If you are still concerned about it, contact Yahoo. They should be able to clear up any concerns. Take care. Duh! What do you think?

It's crap. Don't worry about it. Yahoo already knows which accounts are active and which aren't. They don't need us to forward junk mail to let them know!

Don't be an idiot, you receive 300 emails a day from yahoo about your answers 10000 spam emails and 1-2 from your friends and they are 'vastly running out of resources' and they need you to forward emails for them? The only thing yahoo needs from you to keep your email is most likely if you log in once in 90 days or something like that.. Jesus

Yahoo is not running our of resources...spam a hoax.

fast_on_fear

Definitely spam. I remember something like this being passed around a year or two ago. Besides, if it were official, they would have at least used correct grammar. The 'to' in "Our YAHOO system is getting 'to' crowded", should be too. Anything of a professional nature would have surely caught this. Don't worry, it's nothing.

Yes it is a hoax and I think that you should forward it to Yahoo so that they can warn people that it is fake
