Answer:
You just need to go through your email settings. To do that and to Stop receiving all unwanted email, do the following: Log into your Email, go to Options (upper right hand side). Go through all your settings and don't forget to save them too. Under Spam Protection, make sure your Spam Guard is turned ON. Option to immediately delete all Spam messages. This will force all new email to redirect to your Inbox. Option to Block messages that you mark as Spam. If you plan on keeping your Bulk folder, also option messages you mark as Not-Spam to be moved to your Inbox. Always Option to Block all Images until you can look them over first. This prevents spammers from knowing you opened their email. Save Changes. Under Blocked Addresses, type in spammer.com, this will stop all Spam that has been reported to Yahoo from ever entering your email. I recommend you remove everything on your list first. This will give you a fresh start after you type in the "spammer.com". Under General Preferences, Folders/Search Results, Special Folders, option to redirect incoming unsolicited email to the Bulk Folder. Save. If you get email from someone you don't know, NEVER open it (it may contain viruses) and report it as SPAM. This will automatically block it from your email account. When you do open an email that is Spam, you have alerted the sender that your account is Active. This should slow down the Junk Mail considerably. I only get maybe one or two Spam emails a Month. Good Luck!

You must have given out your e-mail address when signing up for something. Some websites make you register so they can get your e-mail address and they subsequently sell your address to spammers. It's also possible that your address was listed on a webpage and it was found by a bot. The best way to deal with this is prevention- have a dummy e-mail account when you register for different websites. Never post your full e-mail address either. In the meantime, you can set up filters to make sure real mail from specified addresses gets sent to your inbox.

I made the stupid mistake of answering a survey on-line and VOILA, a ton of bulk every day until I learned to unsubscribe to the senders. Thankfully Yahoo divides my mail into my in-box and bulk which Yahoo sees as suspected spam. Unfortunately you have to open each and every one and usually enable the HTML graphics. This might open you up to viruses. Fortunately I have an amazing virus scan as some were found and eradicated. At the bottom of each e-mail there are at least two areas in the fine print that direct you unsubscribe to the ad itself and the company that was hired to send them. One by one you go through them all and after awhile you will gradually be off lists. However, giving your e-mail address out on websites will allow it to be sold and the same headache will start all over.

2 things to do: 1. When you find something that you need in your bulk mail, go into it and there will be a button that says "not spam" press it. From then on that address will go into to your regular mail box. 2. Go into the bulk mail ones that you never read, and make sure you can see the graphics. Then read the bottom fine print of the email and somewhere down there it will say "unsuscribe" Press that link, do what it says, then you won't get it anymore. Soon the 258 number will start shrinking. Good luck.

Weel what happened is that you probably posted your email adress on some kind of message board, or on Yahoo! answers. Spammers have a system that scans the internet and collects email adresses. next time, you might want to use the X factor. Example: If your email adress is [email protected], post like this [email protected] Post a comment to inform others to remove the X factor. OR you can use "no spam". Example [email protected] OR put a period before your email adress. Example: [email protected] that is how you can prevent it, but there is rarely a way to stop those who have your adress. There might be a "unsuscribe" link at the bottom of spam emails. Also there is usually a "report as spam" link or an option to "move to bulk". both of these will assure the domain ends up in your spam or bulk folder each time it is sent. I hope i helped.

Paste web addresses of newsletters and friends into your address book and you should get their emails in your inbox. As for the bulk, it's not unusual to get a lot-- I sometimes get 1000 a day! After you make sure you've pasted the addresses in your address book so your email provider will recognize that those are not bulk but ones you want in your inbox, you should be in business soon. For the next couple of weeks, quickly browse your bulk mail for ones that don't belong. When you stop getting desired emails thrown in your bulk mail you can, from then on, just hit "empty" on your bulk mailbox and get on with your life.
