Answer:
The email refers to a common practice called "Email Bombing", It is possible to send out emails that appear to be from one person but in fact were not. It is done programatically or even by a virus thus sending out 100's - 1000's of these emails soliciting things like "Make your &*%^& 6" bigger over night." Since the attachment has been scanned for viruses already as somone failed to notice. Read it. As long as it is not requesting you provide any private information to anyone you do not know, no worries. If it is, Report it to Yahoo. You didn't say what the attachment said but it could be as simple as recomending you scan your computer for viruses to make sure it is clean or logon to your account and update your information or change your password.

Do not give the information! This is a phishing letter, designed for you to give out personal information that can be used against you. Yahoo would never send out letters like written to Yahoo Member. If you know for sure that you did not send out spam, then ignore this letter, or forward it to [email protected]

[email protected] is an administrator service that automatically keeps track of your account. No, this isn't spam.

Yea sounds like spam. I wouldn't open the attachment.

I agree, it's a scam, and do forward it.

I can pretty much guarantee you that this is not from Yahoo. When you change your password and receive a notification from Yahoo, notice the email address it comes from: [email protected]. If this notice were from Yahoo, it would have that same yahoo-inc.com domain name. Plus, have you sent out a lot of mass mailings anyway?

It sounds like a virus to me. I wouldn't open the attachment. If you have an anti-virus program, use it to scan the document.
Miss D
you need to report that to Yahoo.

Sarcastik1 said everything I was going to say! I especially like the thought of forwarding it to the 2 above. It is just a phising email. I'm sure if you did this, your email address would be used for mass spam mailings about an hour later and then you would have a mess on your hands.

I wouldnt open ANYTHING that looked suspicious. I would delete it, and note it as spam. So that in the future, Yahoo would send it to your bulk folder. If it is truly from Yahoo, and they cancel your membership. (Tho I strongly doubt it.) You can simply open another membership.
