How do I remove the Yahoo mail "What's New" tab?

Yahoo mail requests to verify new account using your e mail address as an "alternate address" - Whats UP?

  • In the last 2 days, I have received 2 different e mails from Yahoo registration verification saying that someone has opened a new account using my e mail address as their alternate e mail address. The E mail asks me to click on a link to verify that this is ok OR advising them to remove the alternate address. Is this some kind of new phishing method?? Anyone know anything about this?

  • Answer:

I have done a verification on my account before. This is the wording on my page. Do not reply to this message. If this account doesn't belong to you, please follow the instructions at the end of this email. Then there is the information of your account verification code. At the bottom this is what it looks like. Policies: Please remember that your use of Yahoo! products and services is subject to the Yahoo! Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Maintaining Your Account: Please update your email address whenever it changes so we can help with any account access issues. (You will be asked to sign in first.) Or, sign in to Yahoo!, go to Account Information, click the Edit button next to Member Information, and you will be able to change your alternate email address(es)." Not Your Account?: If this email is in reference to a Yahoo! account not created or used by you, please click here. Here is a link that I found. The email you received is part of an online verification process. In order to use certain areas within Yahoo!, we ask our members to verify their alternate email address with us. This is done to ensure the ownership and validity of the email address. If you did not request this email or information, you may remove your email address by clicking the removal link at the bottom of the email. If this link is not working, please let us know. http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/edit/alternate_email/edit-25.html

I would forward those emails to Yahoo. They may not be from them.
