Hi .. This is Sam from India. I desperately need to change my e-mail address from [email protected] to [email protected] I tried adding an extra account and making aliases , but that does not change the primary e-mail address to yahoo.com domain. Please help me with this. I am even ready to pay yahoo if they can give me my same id @ yahoo.com domain. The account and e-mails should stay intact. Just want to change from [email protected] to [email protected]. Really desperate. Please Help ! Thank You. May God Bless You.

Answer:
*** It is unwise ever to post a valid e-mail address anywhere online, even disguised. Spammers have programs to search fro them. If this is your true address, delete it by re-opening the question and clicking the Edit pencil icon. You cannot change the domain setting (@yahoo.com) Your address suffix is chosen for you by the geographic location of your ISP at the time you set up the account, and remains valid for all domains. In other words, that address is now taken, no matter what country domain it is in. *Apparently there is a way around this. You will not be able to use the same ID, but you can change to a new one in the U.S. or another country as described below. To obtain a a Yahoo e-mail account from another country, go to: http://world.yahoo.com/. *Yahoo advises to click on the country of your choice and the yahoo homepage will come up..You will still be signed in from your original account. Once on this page, click on SIGN OUT. Then click on SIGN UP. Once you create your new account it will indicate after yahoo.com(....) what country you have signed up for. In the future all you have to do is to use that I.D. and Password to check your emails. (*Answer by Trooper 6387*) This process might even work for setting up an alias account - I'm not sure. If you open an ALIAS account you will not lose anything (contacts, address list, saved mails, folders.) If someone sends mail to the old e-mail address, it will go to the same Inbox so you don't lose any messages. There is then a drop-down menu at the right in From: where you can choose which address to use to send mail. Use it just as you would your primary address (which of course you can still use). You can send and receive email from either address from the same Inbox. http://edit.yahoo.com/config/list_alias
