How can I find out my gmail account password?

How do I recover a forgotten Gmail password on an iPad?

• I'm trying to help an elderly neighbour taking her first steps on the internet. Some weeks ago, she managed to set up a Gmail and a Hotmail account for herself, and she paid someone to set up her Gmail account in the standard email app on her iPad. Of course, when she opens her iPad the email opens automatically. So, predictably, she forgot the passwords she set up. I tried to reset her password through Gmail, but she could not remember the answer to her security question, and the only other option was to have Gmail send a password to her hotmail account... and of course she cannot remember that password either! However, she is still receiving emails from gmail because the email app does not require a password to be typed in after it has been set up. What would be the best way to help her? Is there a way to find out the password, or change it, from within the email app on the ipad? Is there anything I can do short of setting up a new email address for her, which would involve her having to tell all her friends why (which she finds embarrassing). So the point is, she can see her Gmail emails (but not the Hotmail ones). And I have no clue how to change settings like the alternative email from inside the app...
