Why has Yahoo closed my account?

I closed an yahoo email account 4 years ago, but the yahoo ID is still not available to use. Why!!!!?

  • I closed the Email because it got hacked and I was getting thousands of emails a day. I have checked to see if the ID ever came back available to use because I would like it back but it still says unavailable. Does anyone have any idea why the id would still be unavailable if no one has used it in the past 4 years. I also used Yahoo auctions with the account, and have thought that may be the reason.

    For security reasons they will probably never allow it to be reused. You never know what mail can arrive years later. There may be a way to get it back if you can prove it was yours. That can be difficult since many people use phony names. Contact Yahoo and ask.

Could someone else be using this I.D.? Just send an e-mail to the address and see what happens.

Once you lose a yahoo e-mail addy you can never get it back unless you have the username/password combination and/or can answer the security question.

it could be possible that after your id was removed from yahoo server someone else use it right away
