Is there a way to find out how many email accounts someone has?

Is there a way to find out who is trying to hack my account?

  • I recieved a notification this morning that at 8:05am CST someone attempted to recover my account password. I recieved another email about an hour later that someone was trying to access my Windows Live account. Neither time was it me trying to access either of my accounts. I am trying to find out if there's a way to see where these attempted breaches are coming from geographically? I believe I know the person attempting to access my accounts. This is the second time in approximately 3 months this has happened. Any information you can share would be greatly appreciated.

  • Answer:

Sorry, but there is no way to find out at all, although sometimes the general location is given in the notification. It still wouldn't help you find out who that person is. Change your passwords and secret questions and answers to very strong ones. Be sure the questions and answers are ones that nobody could ever guess (but you can remember!) Change the alternate e-mail address for both of your accounts before making these changes, then never use it for sending mail. Just remember to open and sign in every few months so it isn't closed for inactivity. For Yahoo, that is 6 months, plus two more for each year the account was open, for Hotmail/Windows Live it is 6 months, for GMail it is 9 months. (Ribbit)
