How do I delete yahoo messenger but keep my yahoo?

Is there any way to delete my id in yahoo messenger, and keep my yahoo email box?

  • all i want to do is get rid of my yahoo messenger id acct but want to keep my yahoo mail box with the same name and pass iv had it for 6 years and want to keep it just want my id out of messenger chat

    look at all options Delete Yahoo Messenger click start bottom on the blue bar probably at bottom of your screen then control panel then add and remove programs look for yahoo messenge at the bottom of the list choose remove Messenger ID (Screen Name) you can change the id people see on messenger at the top of messenger click messenger then my contact details type in anything you want to you can not change sign in name but you can change the id people see More Info http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/messenger/messenger8/commonissues/commonissues-01.html
