Accounts with Parental Control for yahoo memebers. How do I set it up without ordering service??
-
I am trying to set up an account for my 12 yr old daughter. But I am being sent to a page that expects me to order AT&t/Yahoo service. But why should I if I already have braodband. And I just need to set up an acount for my child. That I can keep up with better. So what should I do? I was able to set up a screen name. But we can't excess it.. Why should I pay for an acount that I have another one for free. Why do they force us into stuff like that? Why is yahoo offering free accounts but not for children?? Can someone please help me??????????????????

When you put the age of the juvenile in and have finished all the details …it will prompt Yahoo to bring up a page where you have to enter a CC#… creating an account for a minor?......... Yahoo asks you to give your credit card number if you are making a juvenile account. They do this for the security of the minor.........its like yahoo saying."Go get mummy or daddy to see what you are doing"......... the actual input of the card numbers tells yahoo yes an adult/guardian does know what is going on......... Yahoo say they charge ($1 i think).....but no charge ever goes through.........its a SECURITY MECHANISM set in place so kids cant make accounts without their parents knowing. Make sure you attach it to an Adult account (preferable yours). Remember all the original info you used, so YOU can keep control of the account, the child can have his own password, but if you ever need to get into that account you can use the personal info to recover it The thing to remember is, even if you do the right thing and make a Juvenile account, that once a child is on yahoo and learns the ropes they can make an adult account themselves by merely filling in an adult age, so do not be under the misconception that keeping control of one account , gives you control of your child’s activities on Yahoo. Think about it before you make the account, my opinion, no matter how vigilant you are at protecting your child on the net, It leaves the child wide open for porn spamm and all other adult content. It is only my opinion and I do not mean to impose it on anyone, but the net is NOT a place for juveniles. Unless their parents are sitting beside while they are the net.
