How to access a second account on Outlook?

Bought a new computer and am trying to get Outlook to access my yahoo email account. How to?

  • my email account is free and I heard a rumor that Outlook won't retrieve emails from free email accounts. Is that true? If not, where do I go to input the right information for Outlook to retrieve from Yahoo? thank You!

  • Answer:

If you are using yahoo email beta you need to upgrade to yahoo mail plus to get the full pop service http://billing.mail.yahoo.com/bm/Upgrades You can use Yahoo! Mail Plus to send messages from an external email address, even if you don't receive or "pop" messages from that account. This means that you can configure Yahoo! Mail Plus to send all your email from one place and choose the address you use to send each message. (Of course, being able to send messages from an external email address is especially useful if you also check external (POP) mail and want to reply to emails that were sent to you at a different email address Or try this download if you are using original yahoo mail http://ypopsemail.com YPOPs! is not yet compatible with Yahoo! Mail Beta

1st... In outlook go to Tools>Options>Mail Set up... here you will have to enter a little info such as POP3/SMTP account info. If your not sure what the heck POP3, what the POP3 address would be or if your email provider even uses POP, you can usually Google the answer (It's all based on what email provider you use pop3 is your incoming mail server and smtp is your out going mail server ). Once you enter that info it will ask for you password and such. Pretty simple from that point. Again... if you don't know wether or not your using POP3 just Google you email provider name. i.e. "hotmail.com pop3 address" = POP3 – mail.hotmail.com SMTP – mail.hotmail.com Yahoo's info is here: # Type "pop.mail.yahoo.com" in the Incoming Mail (POP3, IMAP, or HTTP) Server box. # Type "smtp.mail.yahoo.com" in the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server box. p.s. I don't know of any email restrictions with outlook... I actually use a free aol.com email account with no issues.... just FYI for those above me

Everyone above me is right, the only account you can syncronize with outlook anymore is hotmail.......but if you pay for your yahoo, they will send you the info for sync
