How come i'm trying to make an msn messenger account for my friend and it wants him to get a hotmail id?

Hotmail is basically the same thing as msn... u can log in on ur hotmail id on msn messenger.

its ok dis happens.. mayb his hotmail has already been used. n urs works becuz u have yahoo messenger not msn. tel him to gat a yahoo account. its better!

It's all Microsoft. Messenger, Hotmail, Passport, and several other things are all enabled with a single ID. Just go ahead and do it. Nobody's messing with you. MS is trying to make it easier for people to sign up for things.
