Yahoo Email requesting*User name: *Password: *Date of Birth:? Or email account will be deleted?
-
Hello Yahoo'ers, I received an email a few minutes ago from [email protected], stating the following: ATTENTION: Yahoo Mail Account: This mail is to inform all our {Yahoo Mail} users that we will be upgrading our site in a couple of days from now. So you as a Subscriber of our site you are required to send us your Email account details so as to enable us know if you are still making use of your mail box. Further informed that we will be deleting all mail account that is not functioning so as to create more space for new user. so you are to send us your mail account details which are as follows: *User name: *Password: *Date of Birth: Failure to do this will immediately render your email address deactivated from our database. Your response should be send to the following e-mail address. Your AdminManager: [email protected] Yours In Service. Yahoo Mail Team Seems a little fishy to me.. What do you all think! I don't think Yahoo would send out a message like this. They can easily tell which mailboxes are active and which one's are not. Yahoo also wouldn't ask for your username, password and date of birth.. and then say.. "Failure to do this will immediately render your email address deactivated from our database". It's a ploy to get you to give a hacker your email info. DON'T DO IT.. and Don't reply to the message.

Answer:
Its a scam!!!...Yahoo would never ask for this info in an email. Forward the Email to Yahoo itself...but don't ever give personal information when requested like this. Check out this page for more help and reporting.

This is a scam do not give your email details to that person. thats id belongs to a normal user like you and me. not to any yahoo server admin. beware my friend do not send your details. yahoo never asks for our details like this. 2 of my friends also lost their yahoo email accounts and the email was just like this one. make that email id spam and never ever reply or respond to such emails. coz if you do you will be hacked for sure.

You are correct. Yahoo! will never send an email requesting personal information. It is a "phishing" scam. DO NOT reply to the email. Mark it as SPAM. You can report it to Y! by forwarding the email to [email protected].
Yahoo would not ask you for your personal information in an E-mail like that. It is a scam to get your personal information and/or money. Do not respond to it. Report it to yahoo, so they are aware. Forward to [email protected]

When you ask a question it shows all similar questions you need read them. Another thing to remember your bank does not know your email address. When you get them delete them also. Do not give any information to anyone.
