Can you use Sbcglobal and Yahoo interchangeably for the same base email?

I received an email from "[email protected]"... Is this for real?

  • The following email subject is "Provide login details to keep your account active" it is from "[email protected]". Here is a copy of the email that I received... Warning!!! Account owner that refuses to update his or her account within Seven days of receiving this warning will lose his or her account permanently. Thank you for using Webmail Gateway. Warning Code:VX2G99AAJ Thanks, Yahoo Email Center." Can anyone tell me if this for real? I have several email accounts as does my hubby and I really could use some input on this! thanks

  • Answer:

Scam!!!! That's a phishing email. Don't reply to the message and give out your personal information to total strangers or you'll risk losing your account to them. Remember that Y! doesn't send unsolicited emails to all its users, as the company already has that stored in its well-secured servers. Go report the message here: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/yahoomail/abuse.html Choose Fraud as the reason for the violation you're reporting on. After that, spam it straight into oblivion without delay.

Obvious scam. Companies with NEVER ask you for that information via e-mail.

I would think it's fake. I doubt that Yahoo would send an e-mail like that. Some idiot probably thinks it's an easy way to hack into accounts to send massive spam
