  • wish to add wireless home network and need the name of incoming mail server to do so!

  • Answer:

All Virgin Broadband customers can have up to 5 email addresses, which can be accessed via our web mail site or through your favourite email application. Webmail To access your email via the web, go to http://webmail.virginbroadband.com.au and log in using your full email address (eg: [email protected]) and your email password. You can access this from any Internet connection, anytime, anywhere in the world. Email Application Setup If you'd rather access your email through an email application, that's easy too! Just select your preferred email application from the list below, and we'll give you the step-by-step instructions. * Microsoft Outlook Express * Microsoft Outlook 2003 * Microsoft Outlook 2007 * Microsoft Windows Mail (Vista) * Apple Mail - OS 10.4 (Tiger) * Apple Mail - OS 10.5 (Leopard) Microsoft Outlook Express 1. Open Outlook Express and select Accounts from the Tools menu. 2. Click the Add button and select Mail. 3. Enter the Display Name you would like to be displayed to others when you send them an email. 4. Click the Next button to continue. 5. Enter the Email Address you created when you activated your broadband service. 6. Click the Next button to continue. 7. On the E-Mail Server Names screen, enter the following settings: My incoming mail server is a: POP3 Incoming Mail Server: mail.virginbroadband.com.au Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.virginbroadband.com.au 8. Click the Next button to continue. 9. In the Internet Mail Logon screen, enter the following settings: Account name: Your full email address (e.g. [email protected]) Password: The password you created with the email address 10. Click the Next button to continue. 11. Leave the Remember Password option ticked. 12. Make sure the Log on using Secure Password Authentication option is un-ticked 13. Click the Next button to continue. 14. Click Finish to complete your mailbox setup. You're ready to go! Email Troubleshooting If you're having trouble sending and receiving email, it may be an indication that your mailbox is full. The total size limit on an individual email box is 10MB. This means that you cannot have any more than 10MB worth of email stored in folders on the mail server. Once the 10MB limit is reached, email sent to your mailbox will not be delivered and the recipient will receive a notification advising them that your mailbox is full. Additionally, you will be unable to send mail from your Virgin email account. In this case, you simply need to delete unnecessary emails from your Inbox, Drafts, Sent, Junk and Deleted Items, or any custom folders you may have set up as well. It is best to do this through the webmail interface, rather than your preferred email application. This will ensure that the emails are completely removed from the mail server rather than just your computer. As a more permanent solution, we recommend storing your email locally in your preferred email application. Most email applications can be set up to remove a copy of emails you read from the mail server, whilst leaving a copy on your computer. How much mail (size and number) you store on your computer is only limited by the size of your computer's hard drive.
