When I send out email is it POP3?

Can receive but can't send email using Outlook 2002 XP with POP3 access, what do I do?

  • I am subscribed to Yahoo Mail Plus. I have Microsoft Outlook 2002, XP. My current settings are: Incoming: pop.mail.yahoo.com Outgoing: smtp.mail.yahoo.com I have checked "My outgoing server requires authentication" I'm connected using a LAN Incoming POP3 server is: 995 SSL is checked Outgoing POP3 server is: 465 SSL is checked. I can receive email but can't send it. I have tried changing the outgoing server to 25 and 587, with and without SSL. I also tried unchecking "outgoing server requires authentication" and Nothing seems to work. Could someone please help me with this?? It's driving me nuts..

  • Answer:

I work for a cable ISP. Your isp might be blocking email relaying (using a third party smtp server on their network). I haven't seen that Yahoo! mail requires authentication either. So: * uncheck "My outgoing server requires authentication" and use your isp's smtp server. I'm using Outlook and configured incomming server, userid and yahoo.com email addy. I can send and recv in Outlook. Hope this helps your problem.

I am having the same issues. I have toggled all of the settings via Yahoo!, as well as any suggestions in this forum. This has been occurring for the past day or so.
