Yahoo's blocking me from setting up my outlook express on my new comp!?
-
whenevr i try to set up my outlook express to send e-mails, it asks me to use an existing e-mail address, so i use my yahoo. that way when i click on a posting of sorts, it brings me directly to my yahoo mail center theni can send and recieve messages from there. only the problem is, when i'm asked to enter my yahoo user name and password, it begins to search for that e-mail site and when it seems to find it a bubble pops up that has the words at the top of the bubble "enter network password" then under that it says "type your username and password". above where i would type my username and password it has thing that say's "server", next to it is (i guess) an automatic response showing the type of server, THAT say's "pop.mail.yahoo.com". OKAY... now ...since it asks me to 'enter my username and password" for my yahoo account....i do! then the bubble goes away for a second, then it pops back up asking me exactly the same thing. it never goes completely away without re-appearing, and because of that... i can't configure my outlook express. what the hell do i do??? please help someone. oh...i know for a fact that i'm using the right password too. i use it to log onto my mail center at yahoo all the time.. the password works there! could it be a firewall or my security center blocking? nothing pops up near the top of my screen about something being blocked when i try to run it...?

Answer:
Here is how to use pop 3 forwarding if you have a “*****@yahoo.com address”. In order to get the pop 3 services you need to pay for a yahoo mail plus account. For more info see the links below. http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/classic/mailplus/pop/pop-35.html http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/classic/mailplus/pop/pop-14.html * Incoming Mail Server (POP3): plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com Use SSL, port: 995 * Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com Use SSL, port: 465, use authentication

Although the pop settings would be the correct usage for an outlook express account, I don't think Yahoo offers pop email unless you are paying for it. if you just have a free account, you will have to use the web based email.

Settings for Yahoo are Type of account pop3 Incoming server pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk Incoming port (pop3) 995, Outgoing server smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk Outgoing port (smtp) 465. Don’t forget to enable POP Forwarding in Options/Mail Options when you are logged into your account on the web under IE or Firefox. Outlook will not be able to work with your account unless you do this.
