Why can't I send emails using Microsoft Outlook?

Unable to send emails using Microsoft Outlook since changing to BT Broadband?

  • followed all BT advice- still does not work. Looked at and tried Microsoft suggestions - still no luck. Can anyone help ? Error message reads:"The message could not be sent because it rejected you as the sender. ....Error number 0x800ccc78 "

  • Answer:

A common problem with outgoing mail is the smtp server. You should call your internet provider and get their IP number for the smtp server and enter that number in your account properties in Outlook. It is a number that looks something like 123.456.78.90. And while you are at it, get them to give you the port number. Some ISPs block certain port numbers.
