This is a long and detailed Answer. Launch the Mail application (Applications>Mail). Choose "File>Add Account". In the New Account dialogue box: Account Type: POP. Account Description: what ever you want to call this account. Full Name: self explanatory. Email Address: self explanatory. Click "Continue" Incoming Mail Server: pop.att.yahoo.com (you can verify this by calling 800 service under ATT/Yahoo). User Name: enter your email account, you might have use your entire email address name. Password: self explanatory. When you click continue, the Mail application will try to log on and check mail, you will get back an error message. Ignore it and click "Continue". Incoming Mail Security: Select the check box for "Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). Authentication type "Password". Click "Continue" Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.att.yahoo.com (you can verify this with Att/Yahoo help) Check "Use Authentication" User Name: your email account Password: your password. Click "Continue". The Mail application will try to connect to the SMTP server. If you get an error message, Ignore and click Continue. (it might take a bit of time, wait). Outgoing Mail Security: Authentication: select "Password" Click "Continue" You will get an Account Summary. check it and click Continue (even if there are errors, click Continue). Click Done. In the Mail application, the main window will show to the left sidebar the Inbox Icon. Click the triangle to the left of the Icon so the triangle points down. You should see your Att/Yahoo account. High light the account. Then down at the lower left corner you will see a + and next to it a gear wheel icon with a tiny triangle next to it. Select the gear icon. A pull down menu will appear. Choose "Edit>what ever you named your account". An Accounts window dialogue box opens. Highlight Accounts (if not already done for you). Okay, now here is where you tweak the account to work: Down at the bottom Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): make sure "smtp.att.yahoo.com is selected. It might also have appended to it your account name. That's okay. Next click on the "Sever Settings..." button. A new dialogue box pops up. Make sure your Outgoing Mail Server is smtp.att.yahoo.com Server port should be 465. Check the "Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) button. Authentication is "Password". Make sure your User Name is your full email address. Re-enter your password. Click OK. Now you are back to the Accounts window. Click Advanced. Here you can choose how long your email stays on the server, etc. At the bottom you will see Port: next to input box. Enter 995. Check the Use SSL box. Authentication: Password. Close the Accounts box. Use the Get Mail command. You should be able to get mail and send it out as well. You may have to check with yahoo about the incoming and outgoing mail server names, and what SSL ports you need to use. However, if you have an ATT account, the one's i've listed should work.
