• hello not a computer wizard need help please in easy terms. I have windows 7 on new computer. I sell things on craigslist and i want to be able to just click on their address adn be able to ask them questions about the item they have for sale. will not let me do this. Microsoft said i needed to insall windows live mail to do this. I did and it still comes up an error and will not let me send mail through the windows live mail! Error message says something about smpt ect. I really wish i could be able to click on peoples email addresses and just respong, as i do not know how to cut and paste either as it is not on my screen anymore it used to say cut paste copy view and now is gone. Please help thank you .

  The answer to this question depends on what you want the final result to be when clicking on an email address at a web site. You can have it go to the Yahoo mail web site or you can have it go to a standalone program to access Yahoo mail. You can also keep things simple by just copying the email address at the web site and pasting it into the TO address on a new email. For example for Craigslist the address has this format: [email protected]. Just type it into the TO line. ~~~~~~~~~~ FOR THE YAHOO WEB SITE: You must understand that Yahoo is not an email program. It is an email service. The default email is normally a program. The only way to alter it to be Yahoo is with some type of add on or you can use the latest Firefox. ₪ For Firefox 3 and above Go to Yahoo Mail and select "options". Then select "Set Y! Mail as default webmail". This will only work for mailto links within Firefox. It can also be done by going to tools > options > applications. Scroll down to MAILTO and select Yahoo Mail from the dropdown menu. This is the required method for Beta. ₪ For Internet Explorer You must first download Yahoo! Toolbar from http://toolbar.yahoo.com and install it. During installation you will be asked if you want to make yahoo mail your default email. ₪ Other Option Here is a program called GmailDefaultMaker. Even though it is named Gmail it will work on Yahoo, AOL, and Hotmail. I have not tried it. It only works on sites that use the MAILTO: command. http://gmaildefault.codeplex.com/ This is another program that is supposed to be a little more advanced. http://www.affixa.com/ ~~~~~~~~~~ FOR A STANDALONE PROGRAM: In order to use a separate email program, such as Outlook, Outlook Express, Windows Mail, or Thunderbird (see below), with Yahoo Mail you need POP3. It is also needed when using any program or right clicking on a file to directly send email. It is free in the UK, AU, and NZ but in the US you must pay for Yahoo Mail Plus. It is also required when you try to transfer the mail using smtp or pop3 to another online email. When you do you can set the servers as follows: Incoming (pop3)      US - plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com Use SSL; Port 995      UK - pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk Use SSL; Port 995      AU and NZ - pop.mail.yahoo.com.au Use SSL; Port 995 Outgoing (smtp)      US - plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com Use TLS; Port 465      UK - smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk Use SSL and TLS; Port 465      AU and NZ - smtp.mail.yahoo.com.au Use SSL and TLS; Port 465 NOTE: The same servers are used for ymail and rocketmail. Use the entire email address as the Yahoo ID. There is an add on for Thunderbird that will allow many web email accounts including Yahoo without the need for POP3.
