How do I enable IMAP settings with Yahoo?
-
I have a paid Yahoo Mail Plus account. I access my email for this from my iPhone, Apple Mail and sometimes via Safari. The problem I have is that the emails I archive through Safari don't configure with my Apple Mail account, the emails just stay in the inbox instead of archiving. My iPhone does configure with Safari though... I read through another answer on Yahoo! Answers [What are the correct POP3 or IMAP settings to enable my mobile to receive ny e-mail from yahoo?] and the answer regarding POP3. I have the mail in my Apple Mail settings set up as; Incoming Mail Server - plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com and Outgoing Mail Server - plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com. How do I sync it all? (completely lost)

Answer:
I have a Yahoo account through my ISP and I am trying to figure out the same thing and from what I have read Yahoo does have IMAP but they don't publicise it. I have checked a few forums and people have suggested the following settings (for Windows): Incoming mail server: imap.mail.yahoo.com (or imap-ssl.mail.yahoo.com) Outgoing mail server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com (not sure if SSL needs to be on for either server) Unfortunately I can't get these settings to work with Outlook on my PC although I can get everything to work fine using POP settings. It might be because I don't have a Mail Plus account. I was using Apple Mail until recently but I think I was using my ISP's server's POP settings not Yahoo's (my MacBook Pro was stolen 3 weeks ago so I can't check, sorry!). I have set up my Yahoo address on my iPhone with no problems. The problem with the POP system is that reading or deleting an email on one device does not update it across all devices and the server so you have to carry out all these actions multiple times which is a pain. I have sent a tweet to my ISP and to Yahoo to see if they can help. I also have a Gmail account so I'm seriously considering ditching all my email addresses and just using Gmail as it supports IMAP. Good luck

Here are the complete POP3 settings: Yahoo Plus Incoming Mail Server (POP3) - plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com (SSL enabled, port 995) Yahoo Plus Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) - plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com (SSL enabled, port 465, use authentication) Yahoo doesn't do IMAP.
