Is the Blackberry curve 8530 a good phone?

How to make messages pop up/ phone to light up on blackberry curve 8530 when i receive a text message?

  There are various apps you can download for stuff like this (BerryPopup is the one I use), but I don't think there's a way to change any settings on the phone itself to make it light up when a text arrives. Sorry. On the bright side, the app only costs a couple of bucks and it'll not only light up the screen but actually pops up the text in a preview window when it arrives. I really like this app, but if it's not quite what you're looking for, there are others. Try doing a search on Crackberry.com and you'll probably find several that would suit your needs.
