How to set MS Office Outlook?

MS Outlook 2007 w/windows 7 cannot send email only receive on PoP (mail plus) account?

  • I have MS Windows 7 with MS Office 2007. Using MS Outlook 2007, I can set up to interface with my Yahoo plus mail ok but only for receiving email. PoP settings do not work for sending. Used to be able to do this until a couple weeks ago but now nothing. Called ISP (Comcast) but they said they do not do anything with this. The ports identified were same as from Yahoo site.

  • Answer:

Troubleshooting tips If you still can’t send Yahoo! Mail from Outlook, you might be accessing the Internet through an ISP that is blocking the SMTP port. If this is the case, try using port 587 when sending email via Yahoo!'s SMTP server. To make this change: 1. From the Tools menu, select Account Settings. The Account Settings dialog box appears. 2. Select your Yahoo! Mail Plus account and click Properties. The Change E-mail Account dialog box appears. 3. Click More Settings. The Internet E-mail Settings dialog box appears. 4. Click the Advanced tab. 5. In the Outgoing Server (SMTP) box, type 587. 6. Click Apply, and then click OK to close the Internet E-mail Settings dialog box. 7. Click Close to close the Account Settings dialog box.
