How can I use Outlook Express when I don't have Yahoo paid email?
-
I try to repond to ads where it says "reply on this link" but, it keeps popping up Outlook Express, which never works. Why does it go to Outlook, never works, and why can't I just use regular Yahoo Email for this? Is it a setting on my computer? When I go to default mail choices on Windows XP Home Edition, Yahoo is not one of the choices to make it my defAULT EMAIL, ALLTHOUGH THIS IS THE only EMAIL i EVER OR WANT TO USE?

Answer:
Outlook Express is a mail client which requires a path to download email. Without a paid account, you can' use pop3 mail with yahoo so you can't use Outlook Express. When you are on the web and you click on something that wants to use email, just right click on the link, copy the email address into your yahoo web mail view and send your email.

Clicking on mail links on web sites or programs will transfer control to your default email application (Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird, etc). In order to use Yahoo Mail as the default email application you must install Yahoo Messenger. It then allows the Messenger program to be the interface to Yahoo Mail. You must then go to internet options and select it as the default. ✔

The recent changes Yahoo has made has temporarily made ypops unable to download your mail. However they are working on a new version the will allow you to once again download your email with out subscribing to Plus! As of 4/10/08 they have a rough version available for testing. But it is not done or fully stable, I would wait. http://ypopsemail.com/component/content/article/36-releases/70-ypopswindows-096-alpha-1-available Read about the new version here. http://ypopsemail.com/component/content/article/36-releases/67-ypops-096-in-the-works If you want to use Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird or other third party email clients to view your email you have 2 options. Subscribe to mail plus: http://billing.mail.yahoo.com/bm/Upgrades or download and install YPOPS http://ypopsemail.com/ then follow the directions for your version of outlook here, http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/original/mailplus/pop/index.html If you have trouble with set up, check the YPOPS installation page for alternate set up instructions. http://dbeusee.home.comcast.net/ Click on YPOPS link on the left. Then Click on Configuring email clients towards the bottom. Choose the appropriate link for your mail client. I currently utilize version 2.0.0.4 of Thunderbird
