How to configure Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express for using the Yahoo Mail?

  • On most websites, wherever their is an e-mail link and one clicks it, an Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Experss window pops up. Now when I tyep in my own e-mail address and that of my intended recipient and then click the "Send" button, a message pops up telling me to configure my e-mail settings, including entering my incoming and outgoing e-mail server. How to complete this process, or how to get around the Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express window and still use that link to send e-mail to that organization that is running that website?

  • Answer:

To get around the process, simply copy the address which appears in the Outlook To: address bar and paste it into the To: address bar of your regular yahoo mail. Alternatively you could attempt to set up Yahoo properly in Outlook. POP3 configuration will not work unless you pay $19.99 per year to upgrade to Yahoo Mail Plus, but IMAP seems to be enabled free for Yahoo now. * Incoming Server - imap.mail.yahoo.com * Outgoing Server - smtp.mail.yahoo.com * Incoming Port - 993 (requires SSL) * Outgoing Port - 465 (requires SSL/TLS) * Username: full email address (for example, [email protected] or [email protected]) * Password: the password you login to Yahoo! with.
