How do I connect outlook to yahoo email?

I can't connect to my Yahoo email using Outlook XP, on AOL?

  • I'm trying to use Outlook XP to connect to my Yahoo account, only I keep getting STMP errors. I've tried lots of Port numbers from 25 to 595, but no avail. I use a Netgear dg834g router and suspect there's a firewall issue somewhere. AOL Helpline said contact Yahoo, Yahoo said contact AOL.... Oh dear! If anyone could help I'd be very grateful..........

    If you want to use Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird or other third party email clients to view your email you have 2 options. Subscribe to mail plus: http://billing.mail.yahoo.com/bm/Upgrades or download and install YPOPS http://ypopsemail.com/ then follow the directions for your version of outlook here, http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/original/mailplus/pop/pop-35.html If you have trouble with set up, check the YPOPS installation page for alternate set up instructions. http://dbeusee.home.comcast.net/ Click on YPOPS link on the left. Then Click on Configuring email clients towards the bottom. Choose the appropriate link for your mail client. I currently utilize version 2.0.0.4 of Thunderbird and version 0.8.3 of YPOPS (there is a more recent version of YPOPS if you are interested) and have no problems. You dont mention the steps you took (not entirely) to try to get to yahoo. I have had many internet providers and I either enter yahoo.com in the browser OR i click on TOOLS at the top of the page then to internet options. If you want Yahoo as your home page just enter that in the box. It will become effective after you restart your computer...good luck
