What is a POP3?

How can I figure out what my POP3 and SMTP servers are for my inbox?

  • My Microsoft Outlook Inbox has been dead for a while. I'm trying to set up my old account by restarting everything. I get to where I can choose types of email accounts and I click on POP3 server (what I had before). Then it asks for Incoming Mail Server (POP3) and Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP). I don't have the information from when I started my account, but is there any way I can figure out what mail servers I have?

  • Answer:

Try -- - pop.mail.yahoo.com [ for incoming POP3] smtp.mail.yahoo.com [ for outgoing] or whoever your e-mail address is from...... or go to http://www.mcpi.com/emailhelp.cfm It has info on Setting Up Outlook Express Good Luck! I know I had lots of fun Ha Ha... Call Wayne he fixed it for me via get on my computer and do it from who knows where...

Call your internet service provider (ISP). They can tell you what to use. Every so often I used to have to call and ask, after I crashed. I finally printed off a copy of the conversation, and now I just look it up.
