How do I use Outlook 2003 with All-new Yahoo mail?

Am unable to use Yahoo! mail in Outlook 2003 via NTL any ideas?

  • I am trying to access my Yahoo! Mail through Outlook 2003, I use NTL as my ISP. Does anyone know of what settings to use which work correctly? I keep getting prompted for a Network password, even though I enter my correct password it is not accepted. Any Ideas please?

  • Answer:

You need to upgrade your Yahoo email account to the Yahoo Plus Email account, it will set you back £11.99 a year though - The free Yahoo doesn't have pop access which is needed for Outlook or Outlook Express - sorry to be the one to break the bad news but at least it will stop you spending even more wasted hours trying to figure it out

I have had the same problem, Yahoo do say how to check, but I think NTL (Soon to be called Virgin Media) don't support it. Best thing to do is to ring NTL and ask them if they allow you to have yahoo email in outlook express. Please Note: Some ISPs do not permit message routing through another SMTP server while you are connected to their network. To test whether your ISP blocks external SMTP servers, please complete the following test: * Press "Start" in the lower left hand corner of your computer screen * Select "Run" and enter the following: telnet://smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk:25 above should run yahoo.co.uk:25 If the port is not blocked, you should receive a response starting with a '220' string. If you do not receive a '220' response your ISP is blocking outgoing mail servers. In this situation, you will need to enter your ISP's outgoing mail server in place of Yahoo!'s outgoing SMTP mail server in your email client.
