What is Yahoo's mail server address to receive/send mail in Outlook?

What is the yahoo mail server address to use with MS Outlook for send/receive from yahoo?

  • Answer:

In order to use a separate email program, such as Outlook, Outlook Express, Windows Mail, or Thunderbird, with Yahoo Mail you need POP3. It is also needed when using any program or right clicking on a file to directly send email. It is free in the UK, AU, and NZ but in the US you must pay for Yahoo Mail Plus. It is also required when you try to transfer the mail using smtp or pop3 to another online email. When you do you can set the servers as follows: Incoming (pop3)      US - plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com SSL 995      UK - pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk SSL 995      AU and NZ - pop.mail.yahoo.com.au SSL 995 Outgoing (smtp)      US - plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com 465 TLS      UK - smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk SSL 465 TLS      AU and NZ - smtp.mail.yahoo.com.au SSL 465 TLS NOTE: The same servers are used for ymail and rocketmail. Use the entire email address as the Yahoo ID. You can also look at the program Ypops. I have no recommendation for or against. ₪ ɦəlʞɹɐq ₪

The ability to access Yahoo! Mail via a POP3 email client (such as Outlook or Outlook Express) is only available to customers of our premium Yahoo! Mail Plus service. If you have not purchased the Yahoo! Mail Plus service, you will be unable to retrieve messages via an email client. Click one of these email client links for instructions on setting up and using POP mail: If you want to use another email program to send and receive Yahoo! Mail messages, you'll be asked to designate a new incoming (POP3) mail server and a new outgoing (SMTP) mail server. Here are the basic server settings for Yahoo! Mail: Incoming Mail (POP3) Server: plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com (Use SSL, port: 995) Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server: plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com (Use SSL, port: 465, use authentication) Account Name/Login Name: Your Yahoo! Mail ID (your email address without the "@yahoo.com") Email Address: Your Yahoo! Mail address (e.g., [email protected]) Password: Your Yahoo! Mail password If you can't add new POP or SMTP servers, you'll need to change your current server settings to access your Yahoo! Mail Plus account. Write down your current settings first—you might need to revert to them later if you decide to send and receive messages from your other email addresses. Your other email program will give you the option of either deleting your Yahoo! messages from the Yahoo! server after downloading them, or leaving them on the Yahoo! server so you can see them online in your Yahoo! account, too.
