Adding Yahoo Mail to Windows Live Mail?

  • I want to add my Yahoo Mail Account to Windows Live Mail, so I have all my emails in 1 place. I keep getting an Error for Yahoo when I try to Sync the Account from Windows Live Mail. Error: Unable to send or receive messages for the Yahoo (Terry_L_Freeman1951) account. The connection to the server has failed. Server: 'plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com' Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0E Protocol: POP3 Port: 995 Secure(SSL): Yes Socket Error: 10060 What did I do wrong???

    After reading all the posts on this subject (which happened to me also, yesterday) and trying many changes in ports (465, 26, 25, etc), addresses (plus.pop........) all attempts and advice failed. Just now though I removed, in both addresses, the plus, i.e. from "plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com" to "pop.mail.yahoo.com" and from "plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com" to "smpt.mail.yahoo.com". Yahoo POP3 is now working!!!!!!!!! I don't now if the trick worked or Yahoo has fixed something, just that POP3 is now working for me!!!!

I believe that to connect Yahoo Mail with anything like Outlook or Windows Live Mail, you need to have a Plus account. http://overview.mail.yahoo.com/enhancements/mailplus It costs $20 a year.
