My yahoo.co.uk pop3 mail setting seems to have stopped working. Now only pop.mail.yahoo.com works. What's chg?
-
My pop3 mail setup to my Mac has worked for years with these settings smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk and pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk. But all of a sudden about a day or two ago it stopped. I can sent through smtp.mail.co.uk but cannot receive through pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk. I changed the domain to .com and it started to work. Any ideas? I've tried alternate ports no luck. I can ping pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk no problem!

Answer:
There is a known problem within Yahoo - from chat transcript - there is a get around and ticket number in there: John: May I know the exact error message that you're getting? you: I'm not getting any actual error message - I see a message 'connected to pop.mail.co.uk', then no messages are downloaded although there are a number wating you: Before I had the same connected messages, then messages would arrive. John: Okay, may I know what is your Incoming port number is? you: 995 John: Thank you for the information. John: Please give me a minute or two while I check on this further. John: Thank you for waiting. John: I have checked and it's currently a Known Issue. Our Engineering Team is working on the issue you've reported. John: We're hoping to have the issue fixed as soon as possible. The ticket number for this case is "4759630." John: As a workaround, can you please try change 995 to 110 SSL box not enabled. you: Do you know when they expect to have it fixed? you: I am rather unhappy at switching off SSL security you: Is that ticket number specific to me, or a general one for the problem? John: I understand, please extend your patience for the meantime, don't worry, about the SSL box not being enabled it's a work around if you're having problems with email client. John: It's genaral. you: Will I be notified when the problem is fixed? John: Unfortunately, no. However, I would suggest you to try again later. Our Engineering is doing their best to resolve the issue at once. you: I think the lack of notification, either that there is this problem, or when it is fixed, either by email or any other means, eg the Yahoo Mail blog, is not good. Please pass my displeasure up the line to your management John: I understand. I will. Once again, thank you very much for your patience and understanding, regarding this matter.
