Why is server sometimes down?

Why am I getting "ERR internal server error (6532)" msg?

  • Help!! I've used Eudora 5.2 on a Mac 10.6.8 to POP mail successfully for many years, specifically via port 995 from the plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com server. Suddenly I'm seeing the following sequence of errors, at which point the client prompts me to re-enter my password. Sun Sep 11 22:19:19 2011 43656704 8:5.59.1 AUTH 43656704 8:0.0.1 "-ERR internal server error (6532) to the POP server. 43656704 8:0.0.1 POP 43656704 8:0.0.1 I said: AUTH And then the POP server said: "-ERR internal server error (6532) to the POP server. 43656704 8:0.0.12 PASS 43656704 8:0.0.12 -ERR internal server error (6532) 43656704 8:0.0.12 POP 43656704 8:0.0.12 I said: PASS And then the POP server said: -ERR internal server error (6532) Once I've entered my password, mail is successfully POPped the subsequent time(s), then it's suddenly Groundhog Day and the errors are back. I'd be interested in a client configuration that might solve this issue, unless it really a "server misconfiguration" matter that needs to be dealt with by Yahoo techs, as indicated on other discussion groups. Thanks for any pointers.

  • Answer:

POP setting have changed for yahoo. Kindly re-enter your username and password. Make sure when you re-entry your username use the full email address i.e [email protected]. This should settle the issue

I have been having Yahoo Mail returning this error to my mail client(Outlook 2010) over recent days. I solved the problem by changing the incoming server name from pop.mail.yahoo.com to plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com I see that you are already using this name to connect to the yahoo mail server, I am also using this via port 995 on an SSL encrypted session. If you are still getting the errors with this configuration, I wonder if there are any server side configurations that you need to change at yahoo? Hope this is of some help.

There are a number of postings related to POP issues that have appeared in recent days across a number of platforms and clients. Every time this has ever appeared, it has lasted for a few days until Yahoo finally fixes this on their side. I don't even bother turning in trouble tickets anymore. BTW, I have checked all of the settings in my Outlook, and they are exactly what Yahoo specifies, including having the "plus." prefix already (actually for years). For now, I am just putting up with the errors knowing that most of the time it will work and POP my mails.
