Why does Outlook 2010 keep asking for my yahoo password to be entered?
-
I am using Outlook 2010. I have two yahoo email accounts. Both are Plus accounts. I have set my accounts up using the directions from yahoo (also checked them with another site http://living-with-outlook-2010.com/emailaccounts/2010/06/the-yahoo-outlook-2010-connection/). I have checked, and I do have "remember my password" checked in the outlook settings of these mailboxes. Additionally, I have my yahoo settings to authorize POP3 access to my yahoo mail. When Outlook auto-scans my yahoo mail boxes, I get a box that asks me enter my password. Needless to say, when you are neck deep in work, this is very bothersome. Please note, that when I initiate a scan, this message box does not appear. Also, this does not appear related to the Kaspersky Internet Security (2011) software I have installed. I have disabled the software and been able to re-create the issue while that security software is disabled. So, with all that information, does anyone have a clue what could be occurring? Thanks in advance. Lee

Answer:
There are a number of postings related to POP issues that have appeared in recent days across a number of platforms and clients. Every time this has ever appeared, it has lasted for a few days until Yahoo finally fixes this on their side. I don't even bother turning in trouble tickets anymore. BTW, I have checked all of the settings in my Outlook, and they are exactly what Yahoo specifies. For now, I am just putting up with the errors knowing that most of the time it will work and POP my mails.

Hello Lee, I'm running MS Office 2010 under Windows 7 and am having the same problem (for months). The annoying window pops up every 10 minutes asking for my Yahoo password. None of the suggestions I've found on the Internet have worked. However, I just found this on Microsoft's web site: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290684 Haven't tried it as yet. Keeping my fingers crossed. Andrew
