How get to know incoming and outgoing mail servers?

Has anyone been able to get their free yahoo mail to work with Thunderbird?

  • I downloaded the latest version of thunderbird. I also downloaded FreePOPs. I followed all of the instructions, but when I go to get my mail, I get "Sending of password did not succeed. Mail server pop.mail.yahoo.com responded: invalid user/password." My incoming server is pop.mail.yahoo.com on port 995 using ssl connection. Should my user name include the @yahoo.com? My outgoing server is smtp.mail.yahoo.com on port 465 using ssl. Again, should my username include the @yahoo.com? My internet is provided by AT&T, I didn't know if I need to be using their servers or not. I have done searches on this, and people say they have it to work, but no one says how. Any help would be great.

  • Answer:

Ypops is free http://ypopsemail.com/ but since yahoo recently changed the pop address and settings it no longer works. Yahoo has upgraded its servers. You will need to make a small change to your Yahoo! Mail Incoming Mail and outgoing mail servers address by adding the word "plus" as below. * Incoming mail server (pop3): plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com * Outgoing mail server (SMPT) : plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com You need to have yahoo mail plus. You should Check your setting with the links below. http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/original/mailplus/pop/pop-35.html http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/original/mailplus/pop/pop-14.html

Hey guys, I found the unfortunate answer to this question . . .please check out the following: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mai...op/pop-35.html It appears that yahoo does not allow you to use your mail account unless you pay for their advanced service =(

OK I have seen many questions like this. There is an easier way of getting this done. You will need to install a program called Ypops. And it does work for new free emails. I just added a new account. And you can have many Yahoo emails coming through to Thunderbird. I think I have 4 accounts.
