How can I send yahoo mail through Outlook Express?

I can receive my yahoo mail through outlook express, but can't send?

  • When trying to send mail from Outlook Express with my AT&T Yahoo account I am propmpted for a password, when I enter it the prompt reappears, then I enter it and the prompt reappears again, this continues infinitely. All of the account settings are correct according to AT&T/Yahoo. Does anyone know what might cause this?

    I do not know if AT&T Yahoo gives a free Plus Account. In order to use a separate email program, such as Outlook, Outlook Express, or Thunderbird, with Yahoo Mail you need to pay for Yahoo Mail Plus. When you do you can set the servers as follows: Incoming (pop3) - pop.mail.yahoo.com Outgoing (smtp) - smtp.mail.yahoo.com. As an alternative there is an add on called YPOPS that you can download and try. §

I had the same problem. I was receiving mail ok, but could not send. Yahoo support had me change my outgoing server(SMTP) port to 25, SSL unchecked. I was also able to use port 587. Basically skip step 21 and 22 on the instructions at http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/original/mailplus/pop/pop-08.html and then use the instructions at the very bottom of that same page. My antivirus is what keeps the SSL from working...

Okay this si what you need to do..if you were given a password that was a temporary password from you Internet service provider..you might want to call them get another temp. password and then change it to a password that you like. Make sure the username and password are correct under you account settings. When that box keeps prompting you for your username and password. It is either a problem with your username and password..
