Answer:
Mozilla Thunderbird is a popular email program from the same company that created the Firefox Web browser. Because it's a free download and offers a wide variety of features, Thunderbird is growing in popularity as an alternative to Microsoft's Outlook and Apple's Safari email programs. If you have a Yahoo! Mail Plus account, it's easy to set up Thunderbird to check your email without your Web browser. Setting Up Your Account Step 1Open Mozilla Thunderbird. Step 2Go to the "File" menu and choose "New" > "Account..." and click "Continue." Step 3Type your name and email address in the appropriate fields. Click "Continue." Step 4Type "plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com" in the "Incoming Server:" field and "plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com" in the "Outgoing Server:" field. Click "Continue." Step 5Add your Yahoo! user name in the "Incoming User Name" and "Outgoing User Name" fields. Click "Continue." Step 6Enter a name for the account in the "Account Name:" field. Click "Continue." Step 7Verify that your settings are correct, then click "OK" and you're finished.

In order to use a separate email program, such as Outlook, Outlook Express, Windows Mail, or Thunderbird, with Yahoo Mail you need POP3. It is also needed when using any program or right clicking on a file to directly send email. It is free in the UK, AU, and NZ but in the US you must pay for Yahoo Mail Plus. It is also required when you try to transfer the mail using smtp or pop3 to another online email. When you do you can set the servers as follows: Incoming (pop3) US - plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com SSL 995 UK - pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk SSL 995 AU and NZ - pop.mail.yahoo.com.au SSL 995 Outgoing (smtp) US - plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com 465 TLS UK - smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk SSL 465 TLS AU and NZ - smtp.mail.yahoo.com.au SSL 465 TLS NOTE: The same servers are used for ymail and rocketmail. Use the entire email address as the Yahoo ID. You can also look at the program Ypops. I have no recommendation for or against. ₪ ɦəlʞɹɐq ₪
