Answer:
I don't know why people say you have to have a paid account with Yahoo. I'v never had one and i can tell you how to set it all up. You need to login at the yahoo website under the your email account. Then on the right side of the page you have the "Options". Go into "Options" , once your in there you go into "POP Access and Forwarding". Make sure you tick "Web & POP Access" Next to that you have [POP Setting], you can go in there to view the POP settings for outlook. Click "Save" down the bottom left corner of the page After all thats done open "Microsoft outlook". Go into "Tools" then "E-mail Accounts..." Click on "Add a new e-mail account" and click next. Yahoo uses a POP3 server so click on "POP3" and then next. Your name: This will be your name, (when you send a email it will show that its from you, so what ever goes in here it will show up from the receiving persons from) User Name: Put in your full email address including @yahoo.com.au User name: this is where you just put in the first part of your email address not including the @yahoo.com.au Password: Put your password in (tick the box if you want your password to be remembered so you don't have to retype it every time you want to receive emails) Incoming mail server (POP3): pop.mail.yahoo.com.au Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.mail.yahoo.com.au OK now for the important part. Click on "More Settings..." Click on the "Outgoing Server" tab, Tick "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication". Click on the "Advanced" tab, Change the "Outgoing server (SMTP):" port number to: 587 While your in that tab you might want to change the "Delivery options" Click "OK" Now press the "Test Account Settings..." And it should all work :P Press "Next" and "Finish" Now you can press "Send/Receive" and your mail should start downloading from yahoo. Hope this will work for you as it did for me :) I tried making it as simple as i could for the people who don't know what they are doing.

You must be a paid subscriber of Yahoo Mail Plus to use email programs like Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird, etc., to access your Yahoo mail. If you already have Plus, go to this Help link... http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/mail/pop/ Under the heading 'Accessing Yahoo Mail via POP', choose the email program you are using and follow the easy set-up instructions.
