Who/what isVIRUSBUST trying to sell me a product i dont want are they a microsoft product.how do i delete.p.u?

advertisement for down load or purchase of product has taken control of my home page hhtp/ saftey page.how do i delete ad. it also reads microsoft internet explorer .it takes several trys to bypassit to my home page and get on line.are they connected with microsoft.dont want product already have verizon security the scan says no virus present. please help . thank you

sounds like you have a "desktop hijacker" (google it) .... they're an absolute pain in thel butt! They try to look like Microsoft, trying to trick you into buying a product you don't need for a problem you don't have. If you have XP, use System Restore. If not, look for the rather extensive remedy online, as suggested above.
