How do I get yahoo to work with mozilla thunderbird?

Can you put your yahoo email/webmail address (the free one) in mozilla thunderbird?

• I have gmail in there but do you have to pay for the yahoo webmail in order to get your yahoo mail in mozilla thunderbird? If you don't have to pay and the free yahoomail can be added to thunderbird, can someone give me step by step instructions of how to add yahoo accounts? I already did a search and any instructions I found on this didn't work.
